Customer: We are adding a new Roof Top Unit to a finished space and we need the steel supports for it.
RBS: Great! We do those all the time. Send over the structural drawings.
Customer: We don’t have structural drawings. There is no structural engineer or design team.
RBS: Do you have any as-builts of the building?
Customer: No. It’s about 85 years old.
RBS: OK. Let’s get to work.
Reliant Building Solutions began the process with a survey of the building’s structure, documenting all the steel elements, their sizes and spacing. With that information and the information of the size and weight of the new RTU, our in-house engineer designed the supports and handed it off to our outside engineer who checked everything and stamped the design. In the end, RBS provided stamped design and fabricated/installed the Rooftop Unit Supports (RTU Supports) you see pictured.
